RESOLUTION 2000-2 TO PROVIDE BENEFITS EQUITY BETWEEN SHELTERED WORKSHOPS Whereas, The Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) operates a Sheltered Workshop, as described by the Javis Wagner Oday Act; and Whereas, AIDB employs blind persons under the scope of the Javis Wagner Oday Act to work in sheltered work shops located in Talladega and Birmingham; and Whereas, employees working in the Sheltered Workshop located in Birmingham enjoy less Benefits, Specifically transportation and meal subsidies, enjoyed by those of identical employees who work in Sheltered Workshops located in Talladega; Now therefore be it resolved that The National Federation of the Blind of Alabama in convention assembled in the City of Dothan Alabama on the fourth day of March 2000, call upon the AIDB board of Trustees to balance the inequity that exists between Sheltered workshop employees of the Birmingham shop and those of the Talladega shop, by raising the benefits of the Birmingham workers to the level of workers in the Talladega workshop. |
